WILLISTON PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY

Williston, North Dakota

About the Project

The rapid growth resulting from the Bakken shale oil play caused Williston to look at construction of a new public works facility.

AE2S assisted the City with selection of an architect and a construction manager at-risk for the project. Once an architect was selected, AE2S was retained to provide civil and structural design services.

Two-Phase Modernization and Expansion Project

The project was split into two phases. Phase 1 improvements included a new sand/salt storage facility, a new fuel island and fuel storage tanks, site grading, and soil correction in the area of the proposed facility. Construction of these improvements was completed in the spring of 2018.

Phase 2 improvements consisted of a new 93,000 square-foot facility, which was designed in 2017 with construction occurring in 2018-2019. The new facility was complete with staff office space, vehicle repair bays, vehicle storage bays, equipment and material storage, and welding stations, along with surface improvements.

Structural systems for the facility included cast-in-place concrete, pre-cast prestressed concrete, structural steel beams and columns, metal decking, cold formed steel, and masonry.
