International Peace Garden Campuswide Building Condition Assessments

Dunseith, North Dakota

About the Project

The International Peace Garden has embarked on an extensive initiative comprising studies and projects with the objective of preserving and enhancing its existing facilities while introducing new elements to this iconic site. Situated astride the U.S.-Canadian border near Dunseith, North Dakota, the Peace Garden stands as a testament to landscape architecture. The initiative commenced with a comprehensive Building Condition Assessment (BCA) focusing on key structures such as the Quentin N. Burdick Performing Arts Center, the Peterson Dining Center, and the original staff lodging cabins. The BCA delved into crucial aspects, including ADA access, evaluation of the exterior envelope with a focus on doors and windows replacement, site conditions, structural systems, and detailed project cost assessments to address identified concerns.

This thorough assessment, concluded in December 2020, serves as a guiding document for ongoing and future planning efforts, ensuring the continued preservation and improvement of the International Peace Garden.
