Ever since he can remember, Aaron Vollmer has been interested in how things work. He combined his appreciation of architecture and his interest in construction to find the perfect fit in the technical field of civil engineering. Coupled with his positive problem-solving attitude, Aaron is always ready to work towards an efficient solution for any project.
Aaron has been working at AE2S since 2009. As Operations Manager of the Maple Grove, Minnesota office, he oversees internal operations as well as taking the lead on many client projects and business development initiatives. One of his favorite aspects about the position is building relationships with clients and pursuing projects where he knows AE2S can help find a solution to a challenging set of problems. He also enjoys cultivating connections with the team and making sure the Maple Grove office is running smoothly and is capable of delivering a positive project experience to our clients.
Aaron attended North Dakota State University and graduated in 2009 with his B.S. in Civil Engineering. Growing up in the Twin Cities he appreciated the craft of architecture, but admitted he found civil engineering a better fit due to his self-proclaimed lack of artistic talents. He enjoys the technical side of engineering and the way it allows him to make an impact on many communities across Minnesota. “I really enjoy helping clients solve their water-related problems. It’s so rewarding to be a part of finding solutions to help make their lives better.” Aaron emphasizes the importance of working with clients to identify the most holistic and efficient solution to the project.
This attitude has come in handy when working on cutting-edge projects such as the brand-new water treatment plant in Woodbury, MN with treatment capabilities to remove PFAS and provide safe drinking water for its residents. Another exciting project is the newest lime-softening water treatment plant in the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metro area in 25 years being built in Robbinsdale, MN. When asked what he wishes all clients knew about AE2S, he responded, “At AE2S, we truly care about our clients’ success. It goes further than a contractual relationship and just getting the job done, we want to provide the utmost value and execute a plan that has the client’s best interest at the forefront.”
When he’s not team building or water treatment plant planning, Aaron remains dedicated to the world’s most important resource as a member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA). He is on the MAC (Manufacturers & Associates Council) and enjoys organizing the sporting clays event at the annual MN-Section AWWA conference in Duluth, Minnesota.
Aaron cherishes spending time with his wife, Nickie, and their four-year-old daughter. His daughter’s favorite thing to do together is hit up the local playground. In true Minnesotan fashion, Aaron enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors with his family and friends.
