The Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) deadline is now just five months away. The LCRR applies to all public water systems, regardless of size. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) published a fact sheet in April to affirm the following requirements that must be completed by the LCRR deadline of October 16, 2024:
- Initial service line inventory
- Notification of service line material to the public
- Tier 1 public notification of a lead action level exceedance
- Reporting requirements (outlined on fact sheet, linked below)
The new USEPA fact sheet is intended to address any potential confusion about the LCRR versus the proposed Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI), which is expected to be finalized prior to the LCRR compliance deadline.
Review the USEPA’s fact sheet, noting the first table describes the LCRR requirements that public water systems must comply with starting on October 16, 2024, based on the LCRI. The second table provides the corresponding requirements for States.
